Emmaleigh finds her confidence and work through Restart Flint

Emmaleigh moved from Blackpool, England to Flint, Wales and was struggling to make ends meet. Although she had lots of job experience she had found herself unemployed for about a year and was in a financially vulnerable position.
Emmaleigh was nervous about being referred to the Restart programme as she thought that she would be pushed into work even if it wasn’t right for her. She had previously suffered with mental health issues and this just added to the nerves.
One of the first things her Employment Advisor did was refer her to Cyfle Cymru, a peer mentoring programme that help people affected by substance misuse and / or mental health conditions to gain the confidence and skills necessary to enter the world of work. Breaking things down into small manageable chunks made it easier for Emmaleigh to cope with. She did some training and even had access to our online training platform, LearningPlus. This meant she could upskill, build her confidence, and start to get on top of her financial situation.
Emmaleigh has now found work in the distribution industry. We were able to supply and fund steel toe cap boots and a high vis vest.

“I had my first conversation with Caroline, my Employment Advisor, and she put me at ease straight from the outset and made me realise I have the confidence to work.
Before I went to my first appointment, I was worried there was a stigma attached to government schemes such as Restart and that their main focus is to push people to work. I soon realised this was not the case. I felt immediately comfortable to open up to Caroline.
Life will be good again now as Caroline has helped me to change my mindset. I am starting to feel hopeful, I can see there is light at the end of the tunnel. PeoplePlus have been kind enough to buy me boots, a high vis jacket and even offered to purchase a bike to get me to and from work.
I would highly recommend Restart and PeoplePlus they have really helped me. I would like to thank them for that.”
