Robert Finds Employment After Several Years of Not Working

Prior to coming to the Restart programme Robert had been long term unemployed and had not worked for several years. When he was first referred he was lacking a realistic understanding of the job market as well as confidence. He really wanted to improve his skills so he could find sustainable employment.
After several in-depth conversations with his Employment Advisor, Karen Langworthy, she recognised that Robert needed help with building confidence and upskilling before finding a job. Over the next two to three months, Robert completed several courses, including interview skills and building confidence and self-esteem, with our PeoplePlus tutor, David Smith. After he had completed this training Robert felt much more confident. He continued meeting with his advisor and was supported with job searching.
It wasn’t long before Robert found employment as a hygiene operative and is now permanently employed.

“Robert made excellent progress through working with the tutor, David Smith, and I noticed a significant change in his attitude. Robert is enjoying work now as well as the benefits it comes with including more freedom and financial independence. He hopes to save money to go to more concerts as he is a big music fan.
It’s outcomes like this that make me love my job!”
